Would you like to improve the quality of candidates coming into your organization? Do you want to revamp your recruitment and selection process? Students will apply current theories and practices in recruitment and selection to your organization's context. Areas that might be addressed include recruitment theory and practice in the private and public sectors, professional and legal requirements, candidate screening, candidate testing, and interviewing methodology. In order to promote inclusive curriculum, an examination of current practice for recruitment and selection of Indigenous staff is integrated into this course. Upon completion of the project, you will receive a detailed report and presentation.

Exemples de projets

Beginning in January, students in groups of 3-5 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.

Project activities might include but are not limited to:

  • Identifying reliable recruiting methods for different organizations, including non-profits, private and public, and government; including methods specific to recruiting First Nations people.
  • Identifying and evaluating legal issues of recruitment and selection [limited to Canada].
  • Analyzing position competencies and developing accurate position descriptions.
  • Planning an effective employment selection process for your organization.
  • Design methodology to identify candidate reference criteria and perform candidate reference checks.
  • Examining and evaluating recruitment and selection initiatives for Indigenous people [limited to Canada].
