Bring on students from Ryerson University in the Occupational and Public Health Department to be your virtual interns, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the internship period, connecting with you as needed virtually.

  • Occupational Health and Safety focuses on injury and disease prevention in the workplace. Students learn to control health risks including chemical, biological, and stress-related hazards which can come up from different occupations.
  • Public Health and Safety focuses on injury and disease prevention. Students learn to anticipate, evaluate, and control health hazards.
  • Promotion of health and safety awareness and enforcing laws that protect human health, and become involved in such issues as tobacco enforcement, pandemics, West Nile Virus, SARS, water quality, and food handling.

Students are required to complete 280-420 hours between May to August or September to December.

Looking for paid co-op placements only.

Exigances

Students can complete a substantial project for your organization over the placement period. We suggest providing a starting project, but as the placement goes on there may be other duties or projects the student is asked to complete as well. Providing a central project creates structure for the internship, and gives the student (and company) a tangible goal.

Project examples/co-op positions that students can complete may include, but are not limited to:

  • Health & Safety Co-op Student
  • Food Safety, Quality Assurance Co-op Student
  • Health, Safety & Environmental Co-op Student
