Do you have a product or service you're looking to expand internationally? Would you like to gain a better understanding of the international market within which you operate? In this project, student-consultants working in small teams will analyze the current international business environment in your specific industry and the opportunities and challenges you face. Students will then apply their knowledge best practices of small and medium enterprises and multinationals in developed, emerging, and developing countries and common markets towards addressing your challenges and capitalizing on your opportunities. The students will develop a report and presentation for your organization upon completion of the project.

Exigances

Beginning in September, students in groups of 3-5 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.

Project activities include but are not limited to:

  • Understanding and explaining concepts and theories concerning the global business environment
  • Applying conceptual frameworks and theories to current events in the global business environment and to actual behaviour of firms (small and large that engage in international operations)
  • Explaining and discussing the seminal and contemporary international business literature, including the reinforcement of some international economic concepts that business managers use in the normal operations of their business
  • Engaging in sound domestic and international business decision‐making based on global economics/financial analysis
  • Develop further knowledge related to new and expanding economic areas where firms are developing markets
  • Financial considerations in international business, with reference to new financial institutions and/or instruments
  • Assessing how green economies and or CSR is emerging in developed as well as developing countries
  • Integrating social and global perspectives into situation analysis and decision‐making
  • Examining the dimensions of environmental and social impact on business situations
  • Examining the economic and in some cases the political dimensions of business situations
