Consult for Impact is an experiential learning opportunity that encourages the application of theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. Non-profit organizations and social start-ups will have the opportunity to receive pro-bono consulting services. Our business students are passionate about providing meaningful impact and want to apply their consulting skills, tools, and methodologies to advance the mandate of organizations.

Résultats et livrables attendus

Partnering Organizations Can Expect The Following:

  • a written/verbal summary proposal outlining how the consulting team will approach the project
  • status updates on the progress of the project
  • a final project report (digital copies)
  • a 30-minute presentation which will be held at the St. George Campus or via teleconference, with analysis, findings, and recommendations
  • a final in-person wrap up event for all involved projects to be presented

Project Implementation:

Please note that the Student Consultants will not execute the project or recommendations for your organization. If you desire assistance with implementing the project or recommendations, it will be completed outside of the project scope in consultation with the student. This additional partnership will depend on the nature of the project and discussed after the initial consulting services conclude.

In Addition to Deliverables Listed Below, Partnering Organizations Will Receive:

  • access to a team of 6-7 dedicated and professional student consultants for 6 to 8 weeks depending on the scope of the project;
  • Consultation meeting(s) onsite or video conferencing, with the team of student consultants to clarify the scope of the challenge or opportunity;
  • assurance that all communications, materials, and deliverable with proprietary information will be kept confidential;
  • an opportunity to provide feedback to the Student Consultants.

About the Student Consultants:

The Student Consultants have excellent academic achievements and are dedicated to creating social impact and change. The Student Consultants are knowledgeable about innovation strategies, concepts, and ideas used to develop and deploy effective solutions to social challenges, and are sensitive and empathetic to the experiences of vulnerable and disadvantaged populations. The Student Consultants will receive training before they engage with your organization. Periodic meetings will be held to guide the Student Consultant teams and they will receive opportunities to assess progress and engage with professional development relevant to the project.

About Rotman Commerce and our Students:

Rotman Commerce students are brilliant and passionate, educated in a variety of fields, and diverse in their lived experiences and perspectives. The Rotman School of Management and the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Arts and Science offer our program jointly.

The Rotman Commerce program provides a balanced approach to undergraduate business education. In pursuing a BCom with us, Rotman Commerce students receive a solid grounding in management fundamentals (accounting, finance, economics, marketing, organizational behaviour, strategy, innovation, etc.) while having the freedom to choose from a flexible and diverse arts and science curriculum.
