Virtual Internship Opportunity
Students can complete a substantial project for your organization over the placement period. We suggest providing a starting project, but as the placement goes on there may be other duties or projects the student is asked to complete as well. Providing a central project creates structure for the internship, and gives the student (and company) a tangible goal.
This internship is the final module in our Bridge Training Business Certificate Program for Internationally Educated Professionals and gives our participants the practical opportunity to apply their learning from our program, in the Canadian workplace. The courses they have completed in our program include English in the Workplace, Business Communication, Project Management Fundamentals, Workplace Culture and Success, The Strategic Employee and Advance Your Career.
Ideally, an internship with your organization would be for four weeks full-time or eight weeks part-time, for a total of 144 hours. Students are looking for placements in business, finance, administration, human resources, marketing and project management. By taking on one of our students, you will have the help of experienced, internationally educated professionals, who are building their Canadian work experience, but who also bring bilingual core competencies from a wide variety of academic disciplines and international experiences as well as skills from our program.
Types of organizations that could be a fit include:
- Banks
- Insurance companies
- Accounting firms
- HR and recruitment agencies
- Tech companies
- Consulting firms
- Engineering companies
- Micro-credit institutions among many more.
Students are bilingual, with professional fluency in French and English.
Les entreprises doivent répondre aux questions suivantes pour soumettre une demande de jumelage pour cette expérience:
Provide a dedicated contact who will act as the student's primary supervisor over the duration of the virtual placement. A secondary contact should be provided as a backup. Students will interact virtually with their primary contact on a daily basis, or as needed.
Placements are unpaid, for-credit experience for students, but honorariums are welcome if your organization is able to provide a stipend for the student.
The host institution accepts to supervise the internee and to submit a short report on the internee’s overall performance, notably on her/his learning and problem- solving ability, adaptability to the new environment, and relation with the host organization’s personnel and clients.
Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
