Students can complete a substantial technology project for your organization over the placement period. Providing a central project creates the internship structure and gives the student (and company) a tangible goal.
Students in KapCC's IT program can complete projects in several technology areas. Project examples may include, but are not limited to:
- Website Development - Students can code from scratch using HTML 5, CSS 3, Javascript, JQuery, and either JQuery mobile or Bootstrap (Mobile-first frameworks). Students can reskin websites; create new sites; develop stand-alone web apps.
- Cyber Security - Students can perform a risk analysis, cybersecurity assessments, penetration testing, cybersecurity awareness training, and many cybersecurity policy reports.
- Help Desk Support Services - Students should help clients troubleshoot IT problems on the phone or via remote access applications. Students have studied ticketing and customer relationship management (CRM).
- Data Analysis - Students should take large amounts of raw data, create a data model, and clean and organize the data. Then, create queries to visualize and analyze the data to help organizations make data-driven decisions.
- Networking - Students should be able to design physical and virtual networks for small to medium-size offices. They can troubleshoot network load issues, firewall protection issues, and implement mitigation policies.
