Students in Centennial College’s Storyworks course are eager to gain practical experience in a broad range of cultural organizations from museums and archives, to arts organizations and service providers. These advanced students are completing coursework designed to support their transition into professional roles, including intensive training in project management, collaborative teamwork, and client-focused delivery.


Under faculty supervision, learners work directly with external clients, aiming to build professional portfolios, gain valuable references, and contribute meaningful results to their partner organizations.

Résultats et livrables attendus

Depending on the client’s project, you will receive one of the following at the conclusion of the collaboration:

  • A comprehensive final report outlining the key findings and/or recommendations.
  • An exhibition (online or analog)
  • Development of online content
  • A series of educational programs or resources
  • Collections work ranging from digitization to record development
  • Support materials for an existing program

Ideal projects for this experience include those that align with the course’s focus on communication, media, and design, offering students a chance to gain professional exposure:

  1. Social Media Campaign Development: Design and execute a campaign to enhance an organization’s online presence.
  2. Content Creation for an Exhibition, Program, or Project: Produce written, visual, or multimedia content for a client’s in-person experiences.
  3. Content Creation for Digital Media: Produce written, visual, or multimedia content for a client’s digital platforms.
  4. Market Research and Communication Plan: Conduct research and develop strategies for targeted audience engagement.
  5. Event Development: Design an event.
  6. Best Practices Review: Undertake research and report on current state of sector specific topics, e.g., wayfinding, fundraising, disaster management, writing for museum audiences, IDEA, social justice, community development.
