Détails

Social isolation is a significant issue affecting seniors, leading to negative impacts on mental and physical health. This project aims to develop a comprehensive horticulture therapy plan to address social isolation among seniors aged 50 and above. The goal is to create a structured program that can be implemented in long-term care facilities, residential care settings, and for those aging-in-place within the community. The plan should consider varying levels of physical and cognitive abilities among participants, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility. Students will apply their knowledge of horticulture, psychology, and gerontology to design activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical activity. The project will also explore the therapeutic benefits of gardening and plant care, aiming to enhance the quality of life for seniors through meaningful engagement with nature.

Livrables

The project deliverables include a detailed horticulture therapy plan tailored for seniors, complete with activity schedules, resource lists, and implementation guidelines. Additionally, students will provide a report outlining the expected benefits and potential challenges of the program. The deliverables will also include a presentation to showcase the plan's design and anticipated impact on reducing social isolation among seniors.
