We would like to test the interest of the public in attending threatened languages courses over the summer. More specifically, we would like to organize courses in Gaelic (Scottish or Irish), Breton or Welsh, as well as in American Indigenous languages or in Inuktitut.
We are looking for 4-5 students with strong knowledge in those languages to organize attractive taster classes in order to let people know of our offer and assess their interest in joining longer sessions.
Tasks to be completed will include:
· Specifying the objectives of the taster class
· Preparing attractive content that might spark people’s interest in learning ancient languages
· Teaching 12 sessions of the taster class over the course of 2-3 weeks on different days of the week, and at different times so we can evaluate people’s interest as well as the best time slots to organize the classes
· Preparing a curriculum for a potential 10 class-session to be given over the summer 2021
Each student will be required to work 80 hours on the project.
Students will meet with the Executive Director at least once a week to follow-up on the project.
