The main goal for the project is to conduct a comprehensive security audit of the software architecture on AWS and implement necessary improvements to enhance the overall security posture. This will involve several different steps for the students, including:

- Conducting a thorough assessment of the current security architecture and identifying potential vulnerabilities and weaknesses.

- Developing and implementing a plan to address the identified security issues and enhance the overall security infrastructure.

- Configuring and optimizing security features and controls within the AWS environment.

- Providing recommendations for best practices and ongoing security maintenance.

By the end of the project, students should complete the following list of activities:

- A detailed report outlining the findings of the security architecture audit, including identified vulnerabilities and recommended improvements.

- Implementation of the recommended security enhancements within the AWS environment.

- Documentation of the updated security architecture and configuration settings.

- Recommendations for ongoing security maintenance and best practices.

Final deliverables:

- A comprehensive security audit report with findings and recommendations.

- Updated security architecture documentation and configuration settings.

- Presentation of the implemented security improvements and ongoing maintenance recommendations.

You'll be working directly with a team of software engineers and researchers (PhDs). You'll have access to cloud infrastructure on AWS and will be contributing to customer facing code in production. We use Jira, Slack and Github for communcation.
