The goal of this project is to assess a small scale organic income generation coop in Kenya and compare that to a couple small scale organic income farms in Canada. The project will involve researching best practices in Canada and making recommendations to increase income for coops in Africa. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: - Researching best practices in Canada for organic income generation - Analyzing the current state of organic income generation in Kenya - Developing a comparison between the two countries - Identifying areas for improvement in Kenya - Making recommendations for increasing income for coops in Africa

Excel Cooperative Mini-farm Income Generation Program for Developing Countries

PROJECT SCOPE Positions Available: One individual student Thrive for Good has four pillars in their African community development program . The last one is developing income generation through small scale organic farms that cooperatively work together. The challenge for small scale farmers in Africa is having the ability to cover all the bases from production to sales. Cooperatively several farmers can work together to have someone else sell their market garden produce enabling them to focus on production. Strategic Prospecting Plan

Positions Available: One individual student We want to bring together a research team here in North America that can help us identify potential international digital mentors that can help with our online learning platform. This project may include, but is not limited to: Identifying learning organizations (universities and colleges) in the developing world where we could recruit trainer/mentors A new market for us is trying to reach out to church networks in the developing world so finding students who are enrolled in Christian universities/colleges will be the main focus Create a master list of post-secondary institutions outside of North America that have an interest in food and health security Our goal is to be able to set up a network of about 50 digital trainer/mentors
