Talent Coordinator For Volunteers
We would like to support our volunteers and help connect them to recruiters and hiring managers looking for talent. We currently work with a team of over 20 volunteers, much of whom are still completing their undergraduate degree. Our objective with this Talent Coordinator project is to create a mailing list of recruiters and hiring managers who will be sent our monthly newsletters. Starting February 2023, our monthly newsletter will feature two volunteers per month, their work portfolio and a short project that they have completed in the past. Our aim here to is make recruiters and hiring managers more aware of the amazing work our volunteers do with the goal of potentially hiring them or scheduling an interview with them.
Non-Profit Grant Writing
We are looking for assistance in finding and completing grant applications that support our mission and vision statement. We believe this project will include: Assist with defining a company-identified community problem and as well a problem that impacts racialized communities. Developing solutions to address the problem that is aligned with the organization's mission and capacity. Develop a needs statement that characterizes the community problem and justifies the need for our project and funding. Identify potential sponsors and funding opportunities that are a good fit for our organization and project. Support with grant writing for the organization. As well as improve the clarity and persuasiveness of our company's grant proposal writing.
Fundraising Plan
Our organization is committed to serving our target population. However, we are currently facing funding challenges. We would like to collaborate with students to develop a fundraising plan to meet our goals. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Familiarizing themselves with our mission, values and goals. Familiarizing themselves with our past fundraising activities and donors. Conducting background research on fundraising strategies. Recommending suitable fundraising strategies and creating a timeline / calendar of these activities. Bonus steps in the process would also include: Assisting in implementing new fundraising activities.
Curriculum Researcher for Sankofa Bridge Program
The main objective of this project is to enhance student learning through a program called Sankofa Bridge Program at Downsview Secondary School. The project aims to address the needs of students by providing additional support and reinforcement of class materials, ultimately contributing to increased academic success. The students involved in this project are expected to achieve a deeper understanding of the class material and show improvement in their academic performance. Requirements for Participants: Must be a Master’s or PhD student enrolled in a teaching school in Ontario. Must be able to commute to Downsview Secondary School. Must complete a vulnerable sector check to ensure the safety of the students involved. Aspiration to become a high school teacher or professor.

This project will involve several different steps for the students, including: Documenting the current state of our staff and volunteer recruitment process, from the time the resource need is identified to the time the position is filled. Evaluate the skills, experiences, and motivations of potential volunteers or employees to ensure they align with the organization's needs and values. Assessing our current process and making recommendations for improvements and efficiencies. Actively seek out individuals with the skills and passion necessary to contribute to the organization's goal. This may involve outreach through social media, community events, and networking. Suggesting feedback mechanisms to gather input from staff, volunteers, and applicants
Mental Health Social Media Researcher
Our organization plans to support . We hope to revamp our social media marketing to attract more customers. We would like to work with students to create mental health posts for our organizations. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Familiarizing themselves with our organization’s research on mental health, social media goals and target market. Conduct research for mental health positing for our social media positing Identifying social media channels and strategies suitable for our company. Write short descriptions for mental health positing for our social media posting Creating a social media content calendar that outlines important steps in the posts Bonus steps in the process would also include: Recommending social media management tools to schedule our content.
Career Resources for High School and Post-Secondary Students
The main goal for the project is to prepare career resources for high school and post-secondary students, including a list of "How to become" resources using templates. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: - Researching various career paths and the necessary steps to enter those fields. - Writing blogs and brochures on "How to become" resources for different career paths. CAYOP will provide students access to some resources, guidelines, and continuous support.
Grant Proposal Research & Development - Social Innovation Policy
We are currently looking for an intern to support us in writing various grant applications. This would require identifying a targeted list of applications relevant to social innovation, international development and social entrepreneurship. Targeting the most viable opportunities with the aim of securing funding for us as well as accessing events and speaking engagements.
Ontario Educational Partnership Prospect List
The Progressive Centre aims to expand its tutoring services by partnering with schools, group homes, and organizations across Ontario. The goal of this project is to create a comprehensive prospect list of potential partners who can benefit from our tutoring services. This involves researching and identifying institutions that align with our mission to support student education. The project will provide an opportunity for learners to apply their research and data organization skills, ensuring they compile a detailed and actionable list. The final prospect list will help The Progressive Centre streamline its outreach efforts and form meaningful partnerships to enhance educational outcomes for students in Ontario.
