The challenges brought about by COVID-19, many businesses have adopted the hybrid work model, causing concerns for office owners. Our objective is to alleviate this by creating more opportunities for owners with vacant units to rent their spaces. We aim to showcase the space through vibrant photos suitable for social media, website and any marketing collateral purpose. These images will serve to promote the office building, specifically emphasizing the available units. Additionally, this content will be featured on our upcoming website, ensuring it stays current with our evolving functionality.
Event Planning - Yonge North York Sustainability Themed Event
The expected outcome of the project is to successfully organize and execute a sustainability event that not only raises awareness but also engages and educates business owners and workers about sustainable practices. Yonge North York BIA had actively joined the CleanTO every April fo over 3 years to gather workers, residents as well as business owners together to improve the Yonge North York Corridor streetscape and park spaces. We are seeking an event planner to revision our past event into a new format and offering that will better engage our membership and community.
Yonge North York Networking Event Planning
The primary objective of this project is to harness students' insights, event planning and marketing skills to formulate a tailored and strategic plan which our staff team can implement in order to produce two networking events for business and property owners within the Yonge North York area.
Yonge North York Event Planning For Office Workers
The goal of the "Event Planning for the Office Building" project is to enhance workplace engagement and culture through a series of strategically planned events throughout the year. Last year, we saw success with a holiday entertainment pop-up, which we would like to expand with new and creative ideas. Our Business Improvement Area includes a number of office towers which face challenges due to high vacancy rates. By working together with Property Managers, we aim to contribute to an attractive office environment for workers by creating a series of event pop ups and activations. The pop-ups are also intended as an opportunity to raise awareness of the offerings of the commercial area as well as collect worker emails for future marketing.
Yonge North York BIA PR Strategy & Research
Project Objective: The main objective of this project is for students to conduct comprehensive research and compile a list of relevant press contacts within our spheres of interest, including destination marketing, arts & culture events, business development, and public realm. This initiative aims to establish a strategic foundation for effective public relations outreach, ensuring targeted and impactful communication with key media outlets. Project Goal: The project's overarching goal is to empower our organization with a robust PR strategy by providing a resourceful compilation of press contacts. This compilation will serve as a valuable tool for future communication efforts, ensuring that our messages reach the right channels and resonate effectively within our target areas, ultimately enhancing our visibility and impact across various domains.
Yonge North York BIA Business Directory Development
The project's main objective is to undertake a comprehensive review of the Yonge North York BIA Business Directory. The expected outcome is a valuable resource fostering community engagement, supporting local businesses, and providing students with practical experience. Expected Outcome: By the end of the project, the goal is to have a fully updated and aesthetically pleasing Business Directory that offers the following outcomes: Comprehensive Information: The directory will provide accurate and detailed information about local businesses, including their products, services, contact details, and operating hours. User-Friendly Interface: The directory will feature an intuitive and user-friendly interface, ensuring easy navigation and accessibility for residents and visitors. Enhanced Community Engagement: The project aims to strengthen the connection between the community and local businesses by providing a platform for interaction and exploration. Increased Visibility for Businesses: Local businesses will benefit from increased visibility, attracting a broader customer base and fostering a sense of community support. Valuable Learning Experience: Student interns involved in the project will gain practical experience in data collection, collaboration, problem-solving, and project management within a real-world context.
Festival Photography and/or Video Sizzle Reel and Content Creation
Creating a vibrant sizzle video as well as short clips for social media that encapsulates the event's atmosphere, crowds, activities, partners, speeches, etc. which can be used to promote the festival and showcase it in following years to our members, partners and sponsors. Strategic Partnership Development: Proven ability to identify and establish strategic partnerships with sponsors aligning with BIA activities and festival goals. Sponsor Prospecting: Proficient in researching and identifying potential sponsors who share a synergy with our BIA initiatives. Contact Management: Experience in managing and maintaining a comprehensive list of potential sponsors, including their contact information and relevant details. Communications: Ability to create compelling and tailored sponsorship communications, showcasing the benefits and value proposition for potential sponsors. Outreach Expertise: Demonstrated success in conducting outreach to organizations, effectively conveying the vision and objectives of BIA activities with a persuasive and professional tone. We would be seeking 2-3 team members to implement this project.

To craft a narrative that attracts and engages event planners, thereby boosting visibility and appeal to attract new festivals, fairs, conferences, and cultural events to our destination. To create detailed marketing communications templates to elevate our venues as prime event locations, showcasing their unique qualities.
Business Attraction Marketing: Website & Brochure Design
Create engaging and informative content that will attract new businesses to our Business Improvement Area. Create a layout and content that is web ready for our website, and adapt a print brochure version of the content in Canva. Use case studies and our market research report to develop a pitch and marketing materials to attract new businesses to our area. Develop new written and visual content to enhance the story. Create content that will appeal to our target audience of business owners including independent entrepreneurs as well as corporations.

The Yonge North York BIA is seeking assistance in creating a member handbook to welcome new businesses opening in our corridor. Include information about the services, support available, and general contact details for inquiries related to Yonge North York BIA.
Winter Immersive Light Display Sponsorship Strategy & Deck
Create a sponsorship package and support the development of a sponsorship plan of action for the Yonge North York Signature Winter Display, our free winter community light display. This event is undertaken with a local event organization to generalize the vibrant and more outdoor opportunity over the February 2024 period.
Signature Event Plan
The BIA is seeking to create a Signature Event and or Placemaking Activation that will allow the BIA to take full ownership. In other words, the event and or activation eventually should reach a level of recognition whereby attendees associate the experience attained with the BIA location. Ideally the program must have the ability to take place annually, during the winter, off-shoulder season. (February at this point would be the most preferred month) Are you interested in helping us curate the concept that could potentially launch in February 2024?
Create Template for a District Quarterly Issues Report
Our organization utilizes software for tracking and reporting of issues within our district. Our street team uses the software to report a range of issues such as broken bins, postering on poles, sidewalk damage and more, and then track their resolution. This data needs to be extracted and organized in a visual manner in a report, which can be shared with Staff, Board of Directors, our Municipality and relevant departments. The project will involve developing template and training materials, as well as generating initial reports.
Human Resource Gap Report & Implementation Templates
1. Evaluate the BIA's HR resource gap as projects and BIA initiatives become more established and continue to grow and make recommendations for implementation. 2. Prepare a hiring strategy and templates that will be effective for our niche market, limited resources and unique range of activities.
Develop a Music Event Series Sponsorship Package
Create a sponsorship package and support the development of a sponsorship plan of action for Live Music On Yonge, our free community music series. This event is undertaken in partnership with a local arts organization supporting emerging artists, and takes place in the fall at 5 locations along our main street area over 3-4 weeks.
