Students will also be introduced to social media, client, and speaker specific communications techniques. The goal of this project is to equip students with the necessary skills to completely work with IISB, an Indigenous organization, to develop communications assets. This Level Up Project is for interns who wish to learn and develop their communications skills across cultures. This is one step in a multiple step learning experience in Indigenous Communications. Project Details: In this project level students will take what they have learned from the first three level up projects and begin to practice teachings through independent work periods and attending respective team meetings. Students will work to develop and edit speaker biographies, introductions, quote sheets, and Knowledge Nugget descriptions. Once a first draft is complete students will meet with a Communication specialist to review their work and learn further communications tips and techniques. The goal of this project is to equip students with the necessary skills to completely work with IISB, an Indigenous organization, to develop communications assets. Students who complete this level of communication training, will then be eligible to go on to the next level of communications projects.

This Level Up Project is for students who wish to learn and develop their communications skills across cultures. This is one step of a multiple step learning experience in Indigenous Communications. Project Details: In this project level students will continue to watch further Indigenous Education videos, complete corresponding reflection pages for each, and attend respective team meetings. Continuing to shadow and work alongside a Communications specialist, students will learn to combine two worlds using the teachings from the first two level up projects to discover the difference between Western and Indigenous communication styles and techniques. The goal of this project is to equip students with the necessary skills to completely work with IISB, an Indigenous organization, to develop communications assets. Students who complete this level of communication training, will then be eligible to go on to the next level of communications projects.

IISB's team is creating a variety of Indigenous Education Videos. We are looking for indigenous students wanting to have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse team of videography experts and others, in the creation of multiple videos that will have tremendous impact in our communities. We are looking for Indigenous student video editors with creative and technical skill and a passion for making a positive difference in the world. The students will be able to enhance and develop their pre-production, production, and post-production skills, such as editing, storyboarding and scripting. The student must be willing to work as a team member and have a geniune interest in elevated Indigenous perspectives and education. Outcomes for Students Meet with experts and professionals from many different industries around the globe. Develop a greater sense of connection with Indigenous people through our unique multi-cultural sensitivity and awareness experiences. Develop a personal/professional portfolio of work to enhance a resume and a skill set. Develop high level skills, using industry standard software, and be supervised by professionals in a variety of fields Duties : • attend scheduled virtual planning meetings • participate in IISB orientation and training • collaborate with teams to create educational materials for videos • scripting, editing various content for the creation of education videos Opportunites: • be part of a dynamic team of movers and shakers making positive world change for Indigenous peoples. • meet and connect with extraordinary Indigenous speakers, leaders, and knowledge keepers from around the world. • expand professional network. • gain hands-on experience to advance and develop their skills, talents and professional portfolio. • become part of a passionate, enthusiastic family working hard to elevate Indigenous perspectives and voices around the world. Updating Speaker Portfolios
Students at The International Indigenous Speakers Bureau - IISB will be provided an opportunity to connect and engage with various Indigenous celebrities, leaders, Knowledge Keepers and experts from around the world. This engagement will give the intern a rare opportunity into the world view and perspectives of Indigenous People and their culture. It will also garner the intern an inside view into the untapped Indigenous solutions to our modern day issues and challenges. The student will be exposed to a variety of skills and experiences to enhance their education and create a meaningful impact on our business, and the lives of our Speakers. Students will learn about our organization and an Indigenous model of business, as well as develop technical, business, and marketing skills. They will also be exposed to a set of experts and speakers beyond any group ever assembled. At the International Indigenous Speakers Bureau we are a family and want to help our students succeed as much as we want them to help us grow. To facilitate that, we are looking for students who have creative vision, tenacious drive, and the ability to see the best in everything; natural wordsmiths, who thrive at producing and editing creative communications including print, social, and web; and students with enthusiasm and passion for learning and connecting to new experiences. This Project (or Internship) As the first International Indigenous Speakers Bureau in the world, we are passionate with assisting an underrepresented demographic of the world in the speaking industry. As such we are always working to improve our current speakers' portfolios to be as marketable and current as possible (you can find some examples on our website ). The goal of this project is two-fold: 1. Familiarize students with speakers on the International Indigenous Speakers Bureau site through the website assessment assignment; 2. To update current speaker web-pages utilizing our existing content and portfolios combined with students' current research. Level 1 of this project will include: Orientation Cultural Awareness training Review and assess our current speakers' portfolios on the IISB.ca website, via assessment tools provided. Choose a set of speakers (1-3) to focus on improving their portfolios. Use marketing principles. Research speakers online with the goal of finding current information and resources to enhance their marketability. Follow detailed expectations for website content; Referring to 'Website Portfolio Requirements' document The goal is to have up-to-date marketable portfolio documents and videos for each of the current speakers on our site. Level 2 of this project will include: Cross-Cultural Communication training: (training specific for communicating with Indigenous people) Connecting and interviewing current speakers for up-to-date portfolio information, etc... Potential interviewing current speakers for articles in magazines and online with partnering media organizations. **IISB's own Education Director will be available to provide assistance with assessments and direction to students on all projects.
